Balliol Hall Short Mat Bowling Club

The club was formed in September 1999 with the aid of a grant from the National Lottery Fund to purchase equipment. Over the years it has maintained a membership of between 20 and 30 people, originally from West and East Huntspill, though over more recent years members have been drawn from a wider area.

The club plays on Monday afternoons, Wednesday mornings and twice a month on Friday evenings. It is a very social game but becomes more competitive with club competitions and friendly matches with other local clubs. There is also participation in a number of annual charity competitions at local venues. The club competitions are played for trophies in single, pairs and triples. There is also a winter “umbrella” league with its own trophy.
